Itinerary

Day 1

  • Leave South Bali for West Bali, Bali's best kept secret… a quiet, rural area nestled between the mountains and the sea. Its terrain includes secluded black sand beaches, luscious green rice terraces, and dense jungles.

  • On the way, a visit will be made to Tanah Lot Temple, this famous sea-side temple has been defying the Indian Ocean for centuries. The landmark temple was built to commemorate the spread of Hinduism from Java to Bali many centuries ago. Sitting on an eroded rocky outcrop between the sea and the beach, it is quite a sight.

  • Close to our destination, a stop will be made to Bunut Bolong, a unique Bali landmark sanctified by locals situated in a cool upland area. This is a centuries old giant hollow Banyan tree in the village of Manggisari in Jembrana, West Bali. There are tales of people who met their demise trying to chop it down. The tree has a large hollow at its base formed naturally, and is as wide as the main road that runs through it.

  • Late afternoon time arrive at Pekutatan, rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2

  • The day’s trip starts early in the morning, drive along the western tip of Bali to the Ferry Harbor in Gilimanuk.

  • After crossing the Bali strait and reaching Ketapang harbor in Banyuwangi East Java. 15 km to the west of Banyuwangi, lies Kaliklatak.

  • This 1000ha privately held and run plantation is dedicated to coffee, cocoa, rubber clove and spices. Visitors can walk through century old factories, witnessing the processing and packing of the crops. Depending on the time of the year, you may be able to see the harvesting of coffee or cloves. The surroundings at 600 meter above sea level, are magnificent. Palm trees and tropical rain forest seal the plantation off from the rest of the world. Walking through the village and past the local school and clinic, one realizes the plantation is completely self-sufficient. Everywhere people will greet you with courteous smiles.
