Ijen Volcano Diving Experience

Indonesia is well known for its incredible reefs, wild life, culture, food and for numerous treks on volcanoes.

Being the country with the most underwater and above water volcanoes we thought it would be a great idea to mix in diving and trekking all at once for a most memorable getaway. Join in on our special trip combining Diving and Trekking in Bali for an amazing experience.

Day 1

  • Upon arrival in Bali, we will drive for West Bali, Bali's best kept secret. A quiet, rural area nestled between the mountains and the sea. Its terrain includes a secluded black sand beach, luscious green rice terraces, and dense jungles.

  • On the way, a visit will be made to Tanah Lot Temple (if time permit), this famous sea-side temple has been defying the Indian Ocean for centuries. The landmark temple was built to commemorate the spread of Hinduism from Java to Bali many centuries ago. Sitting on an eroded rocky outcrop between the sea and the beach, it is quite a sight.

  • Late afternoon time arrive at Pekutatan, rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2

  • An amazing trip on a four-wheel Jeep around the Pulukan Ecotourism State Farm Plantation. The plantation lies within 1181 ha, where you will discover its extent including rubber, coconut, coffee, clove, vanilla trees and natural forest. Take the opportunity to visit a traditional rubber processing factory, a fascinating tour of the local rubber factory, which will give you insight into how racing car’s and airplane’s grade rubber is produced in this local industry by hand, using no modern machinery. None of the rubber is wasted, the poorest quality is sold on to be made into foam.

  • Afterwards, you’ll stroll through the beautiful leafy plantation learning about the care and upkeep of the trees and harvesting of latex.

  • The local guide will also show you other plants and fruit-bearing trees, including cocoa.

  • Enjoy a refreshing coconut drink under the shade, before continuing the exploration on the four-wheel drive through local villages and across the dried river.

  • After lunch at 300m elevation with a panoramic view of the rice fields and the ocean, your journey will end after a visit to Bunut Bolong, a unique Bali landmark sanctified by locals situated in a cool upland area. This is a centuries old giant hollow banyan tree in the village of Manggisari in Jembrana, West Bali. The tree has a large hollow at its base formed naturally and is as wide as the main road that runs through it.

  • Breakfast at hotel and lunch at a local restaurant.

Day 3

  • Late morning time, drive along the western tip of Bali to the Ferry Harbor in Gilimanuk.

  • After crossing the Bali strait and reach Ketapang harbor in Banyuwangi East Java.

  • Rest of the day at leisure and be preparing for the next morning’s Mt. Ijen Trekking.

  • Breakfast at hotel.

Day 4

  • We will start our trip from the hotel at approximately 05:00 am in the morning. Our four-wheel drive Jeep will bring you to the village of Licin then continue to the slope of Mount Ijen, passing through plantations and rain forest, the view is stunning with giant ferns, plants and big trees.

  • Approximately in one and half hours you will be required to ascend slope of mount Ijen to reach peak of Ijen Crater.

  • Along the path, you will enjoy the stunning natural scenery with fresh air and shade.

  • Resting on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2883 meters, enjoy the best panorama of the lake of sulphate that reflects a spectacular view in the surrounding walls to give the impression of doom. You will also see this panorama; where the sulfur mining workers go down into the crater and climb back up by passing dangerous path on the edge of Ijen Crater with the load as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. The highlight of the trip is for you to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the crater of Ijen as one of God's amazing creation.

  • Do not forget to take pictures of this beautiful area, share it with your loved ones or keep it as your favorite, since you have visited one of the most amazing places on earth.

  • After enjoying the natural scenery of Crater Ijen, we descend the slope of Mount Ijen back to the resort.

  • Check out hotel after refreshing, then we will transfer you back to Bali Island for your next destination within North Bali in the late afternoon, rest of the day at leisure.

  • Breakfast at hotel.

Day 5

  • Pemuteran is in a non-touristic small village on Bali’s north coast, next to Taman National Bali Barat. The scenery around this peaceful place is breathtaking. If you are looking for amazing dives, adventures in nature and being able to relax at one of the nicest beaches in Bali, Pemuteran is a must.

  • The Pemuteran area is not only famous for the nearby Menjangan Island, but also for its non-crowded home reefs in Pemuteran Bay. These include dive sites such as the underwater temple garden and the BioRock project directly in front of Bali Diving Academy’s Dive Center.

  • Napoleon reef and Coral Garden offer an opportunity to see bigger animals like whale sharks, eagle rays and reef sharks, as well as a variety of macro critters.

  • We have 9 different dive sites, all a 5-7 minute boat ride from shore and most are suitable for all experience levels.

  • The Biorock is a reef restoration project that was started in 2000, which Bali Diving Academy has been actively supporting ever since. The reef is located right in front of Bali Diving Academy and perfect for both experienced and student divers. Non-diving family and friends will also enjoy the snorkeling here and be fascinated by the artificial structures mixed with natural reef!

  • Pemuteran bay has got some beautiful dive sites and they are well worth exploring!

  • Breakfast at hotel.

Day 6

  • Menjangan Island or locally known as Deer island, is in the northwest corner of Bali as a part of the Taman National Bali Barat park.

  • Many divers agree that the island has some of the healthiest, and most spectacular coral reefs and wall dives in Bali. The visibility of the water is generally excellent, and the weather conditions are mild, which makes the island suitable for all levels of divers and snorkelers. The true beauty of Menjangan Island is not above water but deep below, where the biodiversity is unique. Once you’re in the ocean, you’ll be overwhelmed by the unusual underwater structure and the coral wall that hides little fishes that pop up from behind the corals.

  • If that’s not enough to impress you, there is a coral garden as well, which will provide you with a spectacular view. This site alternates between wall and steep slopes with very colorful corals covering every surface, where we can see the crocodile fish, turtles, whitetip - and blacktip reef sharks, squids, schools of bigmouth mackerels, cuttlefish, nudibranchs, barracuda, six banded angelfish and sometimes pygmy seahorses.

  • Breakfast at the hotel and a lunch box on the excursion.

Day 7

  • Day at leisure to enjoy the resort facilities or self-exploration of the surrounding.

  •  Breakfast at hotel.

Day 8

  • Free at leisure to enjoy the resort’s facilities until departure time, meet your guide at hotel lobby for your transfer service back to Denpasar airport.

  • End of services.

  • Breakfast at hotel.
