Taste & Culture of Le Marche (4 Nights)

Le Marche Italy is known for its stunning landscapes, history, artistic heritage, and its coast. It's also famous for its authenticity, as this Italian region is relatively unknown in some countries.

This culinary experience can be described as a slow journey, quiet and intimate in Le Marche Region…the taste and the art of travelling in the heart of Italy.

Day 1

  • Arrival at the hotel, check-in and welcome drink.

  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 2

  • After breakfast, meet the guide and start the guided visit of the city of 100 ancient towers and “Olive Ascolane”!

  • Ascoli Piceno the city of travertine stone... with its spectacular squares, Roman churches, the 100 towers carved in travertine stone, enclosed between the river Castellano and river Tronto, of Picen origins, then conquered by the Romans in 268 BC.

  • You can visit “Piazza del Popolo”, “San Francesco” church (Roman-Gothic with cloister and “Loggia dei Mercanti”, 1513).

  • Coffee break at the historic “Caffè Meletti” where you can enjoy the anisette, anise liqueur, in a Liberty style atmosphere, watching the world going by.

  • Short transfer (6km) to reach Maria Elena in her private house for your very special experience: cooking class with focus “Olive Ascolane” and light-lunch tasting.

  • Drive back to Ascoli, check-in at the hotel and enjoy free time.

  • Free time for dinner and overnight at hotel in Ascoli.

Day 3

  • Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Amandola, on Sibillini Mountains, to start the experience!

  • Orchidee spontanee dei Monti Sibillini… wonderful wild flowers, different form the exotic “orchidee” we are used to see…they grow on our Monti Sibillini. In this area we can find more than 37 different kind of orchids!

  • We will look also for wild herbs and we will learn how they can be used in cooking. We will start from “Campolungo” at the foot of Amandola village. Really slow and simple walking (about 2 hours), with expert guide and interpreter.

  • Back to a local osteria where you will taste a typical “marchigian-style” “light” lunch with local products and good wine!

  • Free time to relax in the afternoon.

  • Drive back to Ascoli Piceno, free time for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

  • Breakfast at the hotel and morning at leisure.

  • Free time for lunch and in the afternoon.

  • The hamlet is famous for the architectural structure of its buildings, for its 9 museums and above all for its curious alley, of 43 cm- length only, and considered the narrowest one of Italy! Here Michelangelo’s biographer, the painter Ascanio Condivi (1525-1574) and the writer and patriot Luigi Mercantini (1821-1872) were born. You cannot miss the historical theatre entitled to Mercantini.
